Travelled Music Tour Diary – Perfect Preparation

Prevents Piss Poor Performance

Steve prepares for his flight

There has been more talk about this tour than any other I’ve worked on. It was confirmed 6 months ago so there has been plenty of time to avoid sleepless nights. I slept like a baby last night in-fact, safe in the knowledge that the preparation has been done. The hard work put to bed. Visualised, memorised and a fantastic tour already created in the eyes of the aboriginal dream makers. This one is a winner. We hope!
There are always nerves, that nervous excitement that tickles your tummy as a new adventure awaits. This time the Travelled Music team has doubled and merch-man extra-ordinare, Mr Steven Walker, is joining the bungle bus for a whistle stop tour of the USA (and Montreal). Beard trimmer and robe at the ready!
Steve is taking on my old nerves and I’m now switching to mega-focused tour manager dude and it feels great to be back on the road. Well, back in the sky. I’m at Amsterdam Schiphol airport snacking on soup and surfing on stolen wifi. Thank you KLM. The bustle of the terminal building and the thrill of the departures board makes me feel like a bookie on race day.

And so, to Toronto to meet my old friends Born Ruffians. We have 34 shows in 42 days coming up as of Thursday. 1 day off, a shed load of miles, a mission to NASA, past Big Sur up and over, down and round all through the states. It’s my job to keep the show on the road and it’s a great show. I’ll be mixing live sound later in the tour too so it’ll be an even greater show then! Steve will be on merch (testing out his new D2F email application), no doubt pretending he’s some sort of Scottish laird and we’ll have another great adventure. Maybe see you on the road? If not, catch us back here in the coming days and weeks for amusing stories of crazy horses in the US of A.
